Manager's Corner

Hi Managers!

Below is information intended to support you in your role as team manager. If you have additional unanswered question, please feel free to contact me - Pam Knapp @ 315-986-2090.

Helpful websites:

WWW.WayneWings.com (this site has club board members listed, coaches of all teams, directions to away games, forms to use, game reports, etc.)

Tournaments

These two sites will provide information regarding tournaments offered in the league/area.  You should work with your coach and parents to determine which tournaments your team is interested in participating in.

To register for a tournament – simply follow the online instructions provided by the club.

Wayne Wings will provide funding which may cover the cost of a single tournament.  The reimbursement amount is set by the board following the review of the proceeds raised during the Wayne Wings indoor tournament held in March.

Each team may submit a check request to cover the cost of a single tournament. ($$$ TBD).

The form is available on the WayneWing.com website.  Complete the information and attach the supporting documentation.  Submit your request to: Wayne Wings Treasurer, Tracy Prizzi  2038 Brookway Crescent, Ontario NY 14519 (524-4855). She'll make a check out for that particular tournament or reimburse you directly if you have already paid.  You may also request Wayne Wings patches to hand out during tournament play on the same form.  If you prepaid the tournament with personal funds, you will need to provide proof of payment for reimbursement.

Any additional tournaments your team elects to participate in will require the Manager to collect the total funds from the parents to cover the registration costs up front. The manager should then process the appropriate tournament paperwork and submit payment from a personal account.

Make extra copies of all your players' medical release forms (you'll need these for registering in your tournaments) – Keep at least one copy on hand at all times, and I recommend the coach carries a set as well.

A certified roster is needed for each team -- Patty Weyman (Girls teams) and Kathy Wagner (Boys teams) will be handling all aspects of team registration (+ the player passes, coaches and mangers risk management passes).  Most times if you don't have an official roster before your tournament, they will accept one that you make up (an unofficial one, but work with your registrar if you need an official roster before they are ready).

Travel forms are needed (RDYSL website-the forms tab- has these) IF you are traveling outside New York State.  You need to get this filled out and APPROVED BEFORE you can travel outside the state.

Helpful information for your team:

Make out a contact sheet with the names of your players, parents, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and cell phones (this becomes helpful when traveling to tournaments or away games!)

On the back of that list, make out a phone tree, this will help information travel faster!  The coach usually starts the tree and calls the asst. coach and the manager.

2.) The manager will call the first player in each block

3.) The first player in each block will call the other two players in their block

4.) If no one answers leave a message asking them to call you back when they get the message

5.) Also, if no one answers, then you need to call the next player in that block.

Also, when you get your summer game schedule, I usually hand out copies to the parents and attach the directions for your away games.  Away game locations/directions are posted on the rdysl.com website.

Summer games

RDYSL.com  - contains games schedules, standings, fines, field directions, code of conduct and league rules.  This site should be referenced on a regular basis for updates, changes to scheduling, along with the league calendar.

Game Responsibilities:

  • Home Games: Referee payment is required for home games only. Each team will receive referee funds and mailing envelopes at the start of the season.  The envelope is needed for the referee submission of the Game Report. The envelope is required for home games only. At the Coach/DC meeting in March the League distributes the preprinted envelopes to the team representative. The referee will place one copy of each team’s Game Report in the envelope. The other copy will be provided to the opposing coach.  Player passes which the referee withholds for any reason (i.e. ejection’s or eligibility) will be submitted to the DC.
  • Managers are responsible for providing the funds, mailing envelope, 2 game reports, coaches/manager risk pass and player passes to the referee prior to the start of every home game.
  •
  • Away Games: For away games – Provide the same documentation, except the funding and envelopes which is covered by the opposing (home) team.
  • Coaches responsibility: Call the opposing coach and inform them of team colors and provide directions (Home Team). <
  •
  •
  • Ensure the Game Report is filled out correctly and completely.  The RDYSL website has an example of one filled out correctly. There is a fine associated with submission of paperwork with errors.
  •
  • Sign the Game Report at the conclusion of the game and ensure the correct score is recorded.  The home team and the visiting team are to sign the Game Report.  (Usually the coach or asst. coach will sign these, but I have also signed them in the past, just make sure the score is correct before you sign anything.)  IMPORTANT:  GET ALL YOUR PASSES BACK FROM THE REFERREE AT THE END OF THE GAME.
  •
  •
  • Home coach designates which side of the field is for the visiting team and their fans. Game will not begin until this is done. No one is permitted behind the goals during the game.
  •
  • Obtain your player passes back from the referee.  If a Red Card was issued, the referee will keep the player’s pass and mail it to the DC with the Game Report.

Rain Delays/cancellations – refer to the latest RDYSL for rules and payment of referees in these cases.

Monthly Board Meeting Attendance

Each team is responsible for assigning a parent to attend the monthly Wayne Wings Board meetings.  Official schedule is posted on the Waynewings.com site.   End of season funding is based on team participation during the season.
